Patrick McCarthy Eagle Project (1987)
Patrick McCarthy’s Eagle Scout Service Project was to create the “NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH” system in the village of Shorehaven. He gave a presentation to the Shorehaven Civic Association and handed out emergency phone number cards to everyone in the community with emergency phone numbers. The system he created was meant to stop the burglaries, car thefts, and vandalism in the area. With help from the Nassau County Police Department he created a system where all the neighbors looked out for each other and stopped crime before it happened. The project was completed by June 25, 1987 after 83.5 hours of work.
