Durland Scout Reservation
The Agatha A. Durland Scout Reservation is a Scout camp owned by the Greater Hudson Valley Council. It is 1,400 acres (5.7 km2) of mostly deciduous forest containing five lakes, bordered by Clarence Fahnestock State Park to the northeast. It has about forty campsites and nine cabins.

Troop 71 will be camping at Durland March 22-24, 2024. Experienced Scouts and adults will be free to head up on Friday night, new Scouts to follow on Saturday morning.

Activities:
Our first-year Scouts will be trained on how to safely build a campfire, use a pocketknife and work in an ax yard. We will also fish, go on a hike and do campfire skits.
What to Bring:
Treat this as a regular camping trip, but cars will be a 10-min walk away. The weather may vary so check before you leave and pack accordingly. Here's what you need:
Scout Spirit
frame pack (Troop has several to loan) - personal items must be carried in/on frame pack; new Scouts may use a duffle bag as the cars will be close
floored tent with rain fly (Scouts will tent in pairs)
sleeping pad/roll
sleeping bag/camping pillow
water bottle (filled) w caribiner
sunscreen
mess kit w/ utensils (Scouts only)
flashlight/headlamp w/ fresh batteries
personal toiletries (including 1/2 roll toilet paper)
compass
poncho/rain gear
hiking boots/hiking socks
Scout pants/shorts/Class B shirt
fleece top/jacket/windbreaker
change of clothes & extra socks (in ziplock bags)
warm clothes to sleep in
brown bag lunch
pocket knife (New Scouts may not take this until instructed to do so.)

We will depart Durland late Sunday morning so should arrive back in Manhasset around 9-10am. We should all leave the site together on Sunday. Please do not leave early without prior approval.
