Durland Scout Reservation
The Agatha A. Durland Scout Reservation is a Scout camp owned by the Greater Hudson Valley Council. It is 1,400 acres (5.7 km2) of mostly deciduous forest containing five lakes, bordered by Clarence Fahnestock State Park to the northeast. It has about forty campsites and nine cabins.
Troop 71 will be camping at Durland April 22-23, 2023.
Activities:
Our first-year Scouts will be trained on how to safely build a campfire, use a pocketknife and work in an ax yard. We may also shoot BB guns at the range and go on a hike. There also will be free time, campfire skits and a flag retirement ceremony.
Meals:
All participants must bring a bag lunch for Saturday.
Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided for Scouts to cook for dinner in Patrols. The adults will prepare their own dinner (supplied).
Sunday breakfast will be provided for everyone but cooked by the Scouts.
Cost:
Please RSVP and remit $25 payment via check or Venmo if you didn't pay for Alpine. Permission slips are required but we will reuse the ones from Alpine.
