The "Blue Card"
The Merit Badge Application (#34124) is known as a "blue card" due to its distinctive color (see below). It has three physical sections. Part will be completed by the Scout applicant and part by the Merit Badge Counselor. Blue cards must be obtained from your Scoutmaster or Advancement Chair. (The photo below is for reference only and may not be used.)
Scouts:
A Merit Badge Application can be approved only by a registered Merit Badge Counselor.
You must have a buddy with you (Scout buddy system) at each meeting with the Merit Badge Counselor.
Turn in your approved application to your unit leader (Scoutmaster). You will be awarded the merit badge and certificate at a suitable occasion.
One section of the Blue card will be returned to you with your awarded merit badge. This is an important record that should be retained for safekeeping.
