What to Bring

Summer Camp Packing List:
(initialing items is recommended)
  • Sleeping bag and/or bedding & pillow
  • Full Class A uniform (including neckerchief w/ slide) with hanger
  • Several Class B red T-shirts
  • Bathing suit(s)
  • Sneakers and water shoes/flip-flops (& hiking boots for TMR
  • Sweatshirt/jacket
  • Poncho/rain gear
  • Several changes of clothes, including Scout/green Scout-like shorts and long pants, and some warm clothes for sleeping
  • Bath towel(s)
  • Toiletries
  • Insect repellent
  • Sun screen
  • Scout Handbook (photocopy signed pages before leaving home)
  • Flashlight, lantern and/or headlamp (w/ extra batteries)
  • Pocket knife (optional)
  • 2 Canteens/Nalgene water bottles
  • Pens and small spiral notebook
  • Merit badge schedule and any completed pre-requisites
  • Camp map
  • Orienteering compass
  • Medium sized knapsack for daily use
  • Medication/EpiPen if necessary (advise camp nurse ahead of time)
  • 1/4 inch rope/clothesline (10-feet for TMR / 25-Feet for Yawgoog)
  • Mosquito netting for over bed
  • Wristwatch
  • Four 1/2 inch diameter by 36-inch long dowels and duct tape to create corner posts on cot for netting
  • Camping chair
  • Soccer ball, football, frisbee or the like, and/or reading material, for down time
  • $25-$50 in spending money
  • Fishing rod & reel/tackle (for Fishing Merit Badge; otherwise optional)
  • Scout spirit
  • PLEASE: NO electronics; NO packing for your son; NO excessive amounts of food/snacks
At Yawgoog, PARENTS must wear Class A uniform shirt, Troop neckerchief and slide at dinner.
