ALL SCOUTS MUST READ THIS INFORMATION, OPEN THE LINKS & ATTACHMENTS BELOW/EMAILED, AND PRINT WHAT THEY NEED. Excuses at camp like "I didn't know" or "no one told me" will be worthy of latrine-duty the day after Taco Tuesday!

Reminder:
  • Bring completed pre-requisites PLUS extra funds if your badge has additional fees that have not yet been paid.
  • Merit badge worksheets can be printed from here.
  • Individual cash cards will be distributed at camp.
  • If bringing medication, have it in original packaging and easily accessible upon arrival for check-in (don't pack it).
  • Bring a brown bag lunch & water for the first day
  • Wear Class A uniform to camp for check-in (don't pack it).
  • NO massive footlockers (label the outside and all items), NO excessive snacks (please avoid anything with tree nuts/peanuts), NO aerosol sprays, NO electronics.
  • PARENTS: Please don't pack for your son.

Merit Badge Schedule: Click here for the general OSR schedule.  Individual schedules will be emailed.  Blue cards will be distributed at camp.

Patrol Rosters/Tent Assignments: Will be emailed.  These are based on what the Scouts who attended the planning meeting worked out themselves, so no changes.  Patrol Leaders must know who is in their Patrol, make sure their members cover their duty roster jobs and have their full Patrol assembled before leaving for meals and other events.  

Code of Conduct: All conduct will be governed by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.  We all know what this means.  No bullying of any kind, no foul, inappropriate or hurtful language, no rough housing, no inappropriate behavior, no touching anyone's personal stuff, no pranks, no secret groups/excluding, etc.  Every Scout will treat every other Scout like their closest buddy or brother. Any violation of this Code will be addressed sternly.

Departure/Return: We are not bringing the trailer or pickup truck, so everyone is responsible for getting themselves and their gear to/from camp. The Onteora Roster with home telephone numbers will be emailed so you can make your own arrangements.
  • Please leave for camp by 7:00 am on Sunday, 7/16 so you arrive by 10:00 am.  It's almost a 3-hour ride.  We can't check-in and go to the site unless everyone is present.  BE PROMPT so we are not standing around in the hot sun any longer than we need to.  FINISH PACKING BEFORE 7/16. 
  • Upon arrival at camp, check in with SM Simone or ASM Bernic.
  • For pickup from camp on Saturday, 7/22, please arrive by 10:00 am. 
  • Scouts who ride as guests of others please be "courteous" by offering the driver $10 for gas and tolls each way.
Driving Directions:

  • Cross Island Parkway north to either the Whitestone or Throgs Neck Bridge
  • follow signs to the Cross Bronx Expressway westbound to the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) Exit north
  • follow the Major Deegan north, which becomes NYS Thruway at the NYC line
  • follow NYS Thruway to NY Route 17 west at exit 16 (note - Woodbury Commons, a major shopping outlet complex is the exit immediately after entering Route 17)
  • follow NY Route 17 to exit 96, Livingston Manor; turn left from the exit ramp onto DeBruce Road
  • follow DeBruce Road about 2.2 miles and turn left on Grooville Road (there is a sign for OSR)
  • follow Grooville Road about 4.5 miles to the entrance of the camp.
  • Bear left at the camp sign, go past the ranger's house, and follow the dirt road, down to the main parking lot (note: 10 MPH speed limit in camp)
